Lunch @ Old Kallang Airport Food Centre with Yaukwees

Another enjoyable day's outing with Dick, Phillip, Richard & myself.

Dick fetched Phillip & myself and we met Richard at Old Kallang Airport Food Centre around 11.30am.

Phillip, Richard & William had Lor Mee from Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee. There were only about six or seven guys in queue with Phillip. Perhaps the lunch crowd did not storm in yet. Meanwhile, I was #3 in queue @ Toa Payoh Rojak.

Dick had Mutton Soup with rice. This is another popular stall at this food centre. The Toa Payoh Rojak was good and the Lor Mee was above average. Judge for yourself the quality of this dish by looking at Phillip's facial expression or is it that he was damn hungry? The best one I had was at Yuan Chun Famous Lor Mee @ 02-79/80 Amoy Street F C.

Next, we ordered a bowl of wonton mee from the second stall facing the main road and a plate of Fried Hokkien Mee from Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Mee. The wonton noodles was ok but the fried noodles was a total disaster. This stall has been over sold by food bloggers. Wonder how much they are paid to do a write-out? I believe I can fry better ones!

There is a good Fried Hokkien Mee at the Staff Canteen of Terminal 2 Changi Airport. It is the first stall on the right as you enter the door to the canteen. On the counter is a big bowl of crispy bullets (bak yue phok) mixed with ikan bilis at your disposal (self-service). The sambal is another killer.

After a sweaty lunch, we went to cool down at Koufu @ Kallang Leisure Park. We spent another 3.5 hours there. Now stomach full but eyes damn hungry! Many creatures of all shapes and sizes to feast our eyes on! SEE NO TOUCH NO CRIME!

Lunch @ The Thai Table

The five of us met at The Thai Table for lunch. This cozy restaurant is situated along Upper Changi Road near the junction with Jalan Pari Burong. The staff are friendly. Today, the Guest of Honor was Eric Lim Meng Huat. "Welcome Eric" to the Yaukwees' Club.

We ordered the above dishes, namely, Som Tam (Mango Salad), Popiah, Olive Rice, BBQ Squid, Thai Fish Cakes & Deep Fried Chicken. Quality of the food is above average but the ambience is nice and quiet for a small gathering.

After our hearty lunch , we strolled to The Market Place in the scorching sun for drinks. Richard craved for the Rojak there. All five sat down for coffee and chendol and almost immediately everyone was eye locked on their iPhone. Actually, we did chat a lot lah!

Any suggestion where to Gasak next? Feedback please...dun be too engrossed with the coming General Election. What will be...will be!

Birthday Celebration for Dick Lee @ JB

Very Personalized Cake with the initial 'L' on it

Went into Johore Bahru with Dick, Phillip, Richard & myself this morning. At last, Dick had his MACS done at Bgn Sultan Iskandar Customs Complex...bye bye to using Malaysian Immigration White Card.

Proceeded for lunch @ Qui Lin Restoran along Jalan Maju. Unfortunately, it was closed for the day. Therefore, we settled for this restoran a few doors away as we found it packed with diners. Ordered the above and everyone enjoyed their fill.

Walked over to Plaza Pelangi and got a really tiny Tiramisu cake from Lavender & strolled around to digest our full tank. Sedap Corner is situated on the upper most level and we decided to have our coffee break and cake there cos WIFI is available. Each of us had a scoop of the cake after Dick made his birthday wish. The lady manager & waitresses thought amongst themselves if we were on such tight budget or simply too full to eat a bigger cake.

Alamak! Forgot to get Dick to wear his birthday suit & take some measurements. Maybe next year!

Lunch @ Restoran Fook Hwa - Johore Bahru

It was another fruitful day for us yaukwees in JB.

Dick Lee, Richard Lim, Phillip Lim & William Lim went to JB this morning to apply for Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) @ Sultan Iskandar Customs Complex. Unfortunately, Dick's passport just missed the 2 years validity period and could not apply. So now we can clear Malaysian Customs without having the hassle of filling the Immigration White Card. It took about 45 mins to have the MACS processed at the cost of Rm30 per year.

Next we proceeded to lunch at Restoran Fook Hwa. Ordered the above. It was tasty but quite pricy. Due to the scorching heat, we headed to Pelangi Mall for coffee before coming back to Singapore by 5pm.

Penang Food Restuarant

I was treated to a dinner by two of my ladies course mates at Penang Food Restuarant at 76 Geylang Lorong 25A. The air-conditioned restuarant is located near Aljunied MRT station.

The recommendation was Penang Laksa. This must be one of the best I had tasted. The gravy was thick and starchy in texture. The other dishes which we ordered was "Ngoh Hiang" and vegetable with mushroom and tofu.

The laksa is really good and worth trying.

Dick Lee drove Richard Lim, Phillip Lim and William Lim to JB for lunch today. Arrived at this private house in Jalan Tahar, off Jalan Skudai around 12.30pm. The traffic along the causeway was quite heavy due to the school holidays.

Don't expect to walk in and order a meal. You will be turned down cos you have to order your food one day in advance. I wanted to tahpau a Beggar Chicken but there were no extras baked.

Dick order by phone the following dishes above in advance and they were all very tastefully cooked. Not much MSG as we were not drowning ourselves with liquid after that. It was a hearty meal.

We then went to cool down at City Square and walked to Kim Loong Restaurant along Jalan Meldrum to buy Curry Fish Head home. Left JB by 4pm to avoid the peak traffic coming into Singapore. It was a short but enjoyable outing.
